Total phenolics, flavonoids, antioxidant activity, and α-glucosidase inhibitory activity of ornamental pepper and several other lines

Abstract Ornamental chili is a type of plant that favors the value beauty but still has spicy taste. It generally purple fruit color because they contain anthocyanins. The biochemical content in ornamental believed to have benefits for human health. This study aims identify several compounds genotypes and pure lines. was conducted using microplate method which repeated three times. research design used completely randomized with single factor genotype. Sixteen were used, consisting 4 chilies 12 results showed genotype Nazla IPB contained 83.27% α-glucosidase inhibitory activities. lines F10 145174-9-7-1-5-3-1-2-5 second-largest activities (80.67%) highest antioxidant DPPH (15.40 μmol TE g.-1 extract). FRAP shown Adelina IPB’s chili. correlation between parameters DPPH-AGI significantly positively correlated FRAP-AGI negatively correlated. concluded information this can be basis development functional plants future breeding research.
